What is FAR (Floor Area Ratio)?
FAR (Floor Area Ratio) is the ratio of the total floor area of a building to the total plot area. FAR regulations can vary depending on the location, zoning, road width, plot size, and type of building.

FAR Formula
FAR = Total Permissible Floor Area ÷ Plot Area
Example
Suppose you have a 200 sq. meter plot and the permissible FAR is 1.5.
200 × 1.5 = 300 sq. meters
What is not included in FAR
Unoccupied areas like parking, garages, elevator shafts, and basements are not included in the calculation of a floor area ratio*.
